Azerbaijan's citizens were asked to vote on more than 30 proposed amendments to the 1995 constitution. The changes include allowing a president to be elected by a simple majority, rather than two-thirds of the vote and eliminating the party list system, in which voters cast ballots for parties in addition to individual candidates.

In August 2004, Mehriban Aliyeva was named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for her role in protecting and developing Azerbaijan's intangible folk literature and national musical heritage.

As a result of the anti-terrorist operation launched on September 19, 2023 and lasting only 23 hours, Azerbaijan's sovereignty was fully restored, with the aim of preventing large-scale provocations in Karabakh, disarming the remnants of the Armenian armed forces and withdrawing them from our lands, and restoring the constitutional order of Azerbaijan in those territories.

The 44-day Patriotic War, which resulted in Azerbaijan's magnificent Victory in 2020 under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, clearly reflects this determination and will, and the endless devotion to historical heritage and culture.
