Etymology

From dosk - onomatopoeic of the punchy sound of drums and bass lines + pop. It was later interpreted as a backronym from Swedish disco och synth-kombinerad pop (disco and synth combined pop). https://web.archive.org/web/20181207142300/http://www.spacesynth.net/Interview/GustafGrefberg
