From French endogé + -ic. Endogé, first applied in the context of earthworms by Marcel Bouché (see anecic), is from Ancient Greek ἔνδον (éndon, “within, inside”) + γῆ (gê, “earth”), modelled after French épigé. By surface analysis, endo- + geo- + -ic.
