    "(6) Two nights after the birth of the infant, and until the tenth night, a midwife will, in some places, daily thrust her finger into the pudendum muliebre and vagina, for the purpose of removing any clots of blood which may remain in the vagina. From Latin pudendum (“a thing to be ashamed of”) + muliebre, neuter form of muliebris (“of a woman”).
