Chigro

The Chigroes are a tough, forgotten race. They look down on the Negroes and the Chinese look down on them.

If I had my life over again I should undoubtedly marry a Chigro (Chinese negress) for they are the loveliest and merriest girls I ever set eyes on.

Mary was a Chigro — half Chinese, half Negro — born in Kingston, Jamaica. In her it was a spectacularly successful combination for she was as beautiful and athletic as she was intelligent and industrious.
