Angeleño

To the Angeleño who has been here a decade, “during the boom” has the same significance that “in the days of ’49” has to the pioneer of that period.

To the North of the city, the white mantle quite hid the mountains and formed a new and lower snow-line; while within the city, the temperature so lowered that at several intervals during the day, huge hail-stones beat against the window-panes—a very unusual experience for Angeleños.

He [Augie Garrido] is one of only two coaches to win the College World Series with two different programs; in his case, CSU Fullerton and UT Austin. The other skipper with that distinction is also a Latino, Andy López, an Angeleño who led Pepperdine and the University of Arizona to the coveted title in 1992 and 2002, respectively.
