Biodiesel

In Asia, Europe and the United States, more and more food stuffs are being turned into fuel — more corn and grains into ethanol, more palm oil and other plant materials into biodiesel. Scientists around the world are stepping up research aimed at turning grains, grasses and agricultural waste products into fuels.

Biodiesel is an increasingly popular alternative fuel because it's made by refining oil. Thinner than vegetable oil, biodiesel can power diesel engines without further conversion.

Biodiesel is a technologically feasible alternative to petrodiesel, but nowadays biodiesel costs 1.5 to 3 times more than fossil diesel in developed countries.
