Canescence

Leaves pinnate, or pinnatifid, thickly clothed with a short silkycanescence: leaflets or segments lanceolate or ovate and acute, the lower ones 2 or 3-parted, or 2 to 3-lobed: the upper ones entire, all clothed with a silky canescence.

A small white- or pale-cream-capped mushroom with a canescence on the cap and upper stem when fresh; on leaves and humus under hardwoods, but also on conifer needles
