The song was an example of the Chap Hop sound, mixing a hip hop musical approach with Chappist (named after The Chap magazine that calls for the return of the dandy way of life) or Steampunk subcultures while exploring stereotypical English obsessions like tea, cricket and the weather.

But for a moment yesterday, good manners and an upright deportment rose again as the "Chappists", complete with pipes, brogues and gold-topped canes, took a leisurely stroll through the thoroughfares of the capital, indulging in "some languid sauntering and synchronised doffing", as Victor Darkwood, co-founder of The Chap periodical, put it.

As those middle-aged anarchists, the Chappists, tell us, we should all engage in random acts of common courtesy.
