Chemonociception

The complete insensitivity of the superficial chemonociception contrasts sharply with the finding that the nervous elements subserving nociception in some subcutaneous, visceral and periarterial tissues remain chemically excitable.

In all reported studies the blockade of chemonociception to large scale of agents was clearly shown, but antinociceptive effect against noxious heat or mechanical stimuli resulted in controversial results.
