Christiandom

If European Christiandom and Christiandom the world over, had been an underdog all through the centuries, one might feel sympathetic toward them, despite their absurdities.

Hearing and seeing all this, we took our sword, and with the help of God Almighty we went against the foes of Christiandom, and defeated them and trampled them all under our feet and stabbed them down with our sword ; and God be praised for all this!

The concept of Christiandom emerged and in the medieval period Christiandom has become, not merely in a poetic figure of speech but really an army with banners.
