Cliniconeuroradiological

In recent years evidence provided primarily through cliniconeuroradiological investigations has greatly increased awareness and acceptance that subcortical structures such as the basal ganglia and thalamus have a role to play in language.

Since the late 1970s the traditional view of language processing in the brain has been challenged by the findings of an increasing number of cliniconeuroradiological correlation studies that have documented the occurrence of adult language disorders in association with apparently subcortical vascular lesions.

Thus, we performed a detailed cliniconeuroradiological investigation of 11 AT patients, aged 8 to 26 years by collecting clinical neurological data, ataxia scores, growth status, body mass index (BMI), growth hormone (GH), and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I) and correlated them to extracerebellar neuroimaging findings in human AT.

Over a period of 3.75 years, 138 patients aged > or = 18 years investigated at the Department of Epileptology, University of Bonn, for recent-onset epilepsy were prospectively collected and studied for cliniconeuroradiological features of LE, autoantibodies, and treatment responses.
