Dadless

Her liaison with Selwyn's father, whom she never lived with en famille, dissolved before their son was one year old, leaving the dadless lads to the care of a spinster nanny named Jane, who flagellated them with her single, dire bit of wisdom: that they could never know how lucky they were, never to endure the supreme pain of childbirth.

I would be left completely dadless. As I pondered this, it occurred to me that, symbolically, Hollywood would be left dadless as well.

Ironically, and sadly, the alternative is not the case in dadless television families.
