Deities

Osiris, Anubis, and Horus are some of the most famous ancient Egyptian deities.

Indeed, they had never passed the grotto without leaving some token of respect. In the morning when they led their flocks to pasture, and again in the evening ere they started home, they paid worship to the Deities, and presented either a flower, a green bough, some fruit, or a libation of milk, as an offering; and this piety, as we shall see presently, had its reward.

Here she entreated them, if they had any respect for the Deities of the place, to spare her and her flocks: but her prayers were of no avail: for the Methymnaeans, after insulting the statues of the Nymphs, drove off the flocks together with Chloe, whom they hurried on before them, whipping her with switches, as if she had been one of her own goats or sheep.

Having beheld this vision and heard these words Daphnis sprang up, and, with his eyes full of tears, partly of grief and partly of delight, he paid his adorations to the Nymphs, and vowed that upon Chloe's safe return he would sacrifice the best she-goat of his herd to the protecting Deities.

The belief in numerous deities and their cult is characteristic of Greek and Roman mythologies.

"My name / is good AEneas; from the flames and foe / I bear Troy's rescued deities. My fame / outsoars the stars of heaven; a Jove-born race, we claim / a home in fair Italia far away."

O native land! O Ilion, now betrayed! / Blest home of deities, in war renowned! / Four times beside the very gate 'twas stayed; / four times within the womb the armour clashed and brayed.

Dread shapes and forms terrific loomed in sight, / and hostile deities, whose faces frowned / destruction.

O deities of the underworld, to whom all we who live must come, hear my words, for they are true.

I opine that the Deity Proper liberates itself from emotions. There may exist more advanced entities with emotions as humans possess, but depending on terminology, one could classify them as deities or not. But, they are not the Deity Proper, which is unhumanlike.
