Dip-netter

According to Stuart, one of the Astorian party, an experienced dip-netter could take as many as 500 fish each day.

To measure hydraulic complexity and fish occupancy for each piece of large wood, the following sampling protocol was used. Initially each piece of large wood was electrofished using a boat-mounted 7.5 GPP electrofishing unit (Smith-Root Inc., Portland, OR, USA). The boat, with a crew consisting of a driver, dip-netter and recorder, approached each piece of large wood from its downstream end.

Satisfied with my prowess as a dip-netter, I dunked the quivering mass and let them continue on their frantic run.
