Downflexing

In certain regions of horizontal platform strata, there occur sharp downflexings of strata in the form of monoclines.

Thus the "step-like thickening of the crust" mentioned by Sobczak & Stephens (1974) may be coincident with a block fault system at the margin of the Franklinian geosyncline, movements along which caused downflexing and subsidence that controlled trough sedimentation.
