E-stonia

With Internet cafes dotting the Estonian urban landscape, Estonia (or E-stonia) is one of the most Internet-connected countries in Eastern Europe.

Wireless internet access (wi-fi) is marvellously widespread in ‘E-stonia’ (you may find yourself wondering why your own country lags so far behind this tech-savvy wizard).

So Estonia became E-stonia—a neat [Toomas Hendrik] Ilves joke. And with the help of a government-backed technology investment body, called the Tiger Leap Foundation, all Estonian schools were online by the late 1990s.
