Elo

ELO is the number calculated by the system adopted by FIDE to assess the skill of a professional chess player.

It is said that the limit that a chess player's ELO can reach is 3000. Until today, the maximum reached was 2882, by the current world champion Magnus Carlsen.

In layman’s terms, any player with a higher Elo rating will have a better chance of winning a game of chess against an opponent with a lower Elo rating.
