Endorphins

When the body is touched, receptors in the skin send messages to the brain causing the release of chemicals such as endorphins.

Endorphins are natural analgesics.

Doctor Rosen said the reduced blood flow may lead to changes in dopamine. This, in turn, leads to a reaction that releases endorphins. These brain chemicals reduce pain and help fight feelings of sadness.

Laughing triggers the release of endorphins.
