Entry-phone

He presses the buzzer on the entry-phone, and if l haven't answered in about ten seconds he buzzes again.

Half an hour later, the flat's entry-phone buzzed and Adam released the front door.

No one expected the entry-phone. When we saw people going up the front path they always knocked, or pressed the illuminated button that activated tubular bells. Finally, getting no answer, they would look around and see the entry-phone.

Unfortunately there do not appear to be any hard data to show the effect on crime or the cost-effectiveness of entry-phone installations generally.
