Feodor Zakharov, a Russian-born artist who specialized in portraits and pursued his career in New York for about 40 years, died on Wednesday at the Lynwood Nursing Home, 306 West 102d Street.

Russian emigrés Nathalie Parain and Feodor Rojanovsky, for instance, went to France where they created the beloved Père Castor series of illustrated children’s books.

Her own son has recently been killed and she sees the Russian, Feodor (Julian Kostov), as a surrogate.

The Feodors stayed calm and spoke firmly to get her to follow their directions.
