Full-stopped

I should add that holding a degree doesn't matter too much in life. Don't be impressed by people with 25 full-stopped letters after their names. Hear the kinds of things they have to say and judge what comes out of the mouth. FYI, I have completed a Ph.D. program in a science discipline. Now does that really make a difference for you? I hope not.

The rule against multiple punctuation around a closing quote is fairly clearly stated and to me quite persuasive. I would just like to see an expert opinion of the special case of the rule where the quotation ends with a full-stopped abbreviation.

But -- as I explained in the part of the post you've snipped -- the stylistic *issue* has nothing to do with the content or meaning of this particular sentence or abbreviation: it's how to handle a full-stopped abbreviation at the end of a sentence terminating with a question mark.

Each of those steps assures you the latitude to "tweak" any or all of the adjustment screws/knobs when it's finished. In other words, no single adjustment is "full-stopped" in either direction.

A jerk on the straps and the next thing I knew I was full-stopped with the engine roaring at military.
