Gunfitting

One of the first steps in gunfitting is to develop a consistent and repeatable gun mount.

Here is where gunfitting and to less extent the clothes worn need consideration.

I have performed gunfittings for shotgun brands such as Purdey, Perazzi, Beretta, Caesar Guerini, Blaser, Krieghoff, Grulla, and probably a couple of others I can't remember.

No damage whatever was done to the interior of the turret or to any of the gunfittings or their slides.

None of the gunfittings or gear were injured in any way.

By the explosion of the shell and the fractures made by coming into contact with the stanchion and ribs the shell was resolved into a flying hail of steel splinters which swept along the starboard side for nearly thirty feet, cutting off bolt heads, breaking gunfittings and actually planing off the paint from the ship's side as cleanly as though it had been laboriously done by hand.
