Skilled foreign farm workers are the backbone of US agriculture and are traditionally in the US on H-2A seasonal visas, which saw its highest ever utilization rate this year, according to the Farm Bureau.

Kline interviewed with 285 Mexican H-2A workers in Ohio and learned that the first challenge for many was learning to cook and clean for themselves. The H-2As were men from rural Mexico who were accustomed to mothers and wives performing household chores. Mexican H-2A workers appreciated getting to know Mexican co-workers from other regions, and most reported that their co-workers helped them to adapt to life in the US.
