Hafnyl

Furfural saturated with salicylic acid was used in a recent study of the separation of zirconyl and hafnyl nitrates.

Application of these recrystallization techniques resulted in zirconyl-hafnyl chloride products containing less than 0.5 percent uranium, less than 0.5 percent thorium, and less than 0.1 percent iron.
