Hydropump

This is because of the increased pulling power of the retro jet which would make manual retraction unduly laborious. A hydropump has therefore been fitted that is simply operated by a clutch lever giving variable speed of retraction.

Professor N. K. Vereshchagin, a palaeontologist from Leningrad who joined the expedition, discovered the archaeological component at the site when using a hydropump to expose a bone-rich horizon of the "cemetery."

An adequate Diesel engine has been selected which, via gearbox, drives hydropumps for machine operation and movement.
