Hypoenhancement

One would expect the area of hypoenhancement on first-pass imaging to be larger than that of hyperenhancement on delayed contrast-enhanced imaging.

Contrast-enhanced CT scans are commonly performed for the evaluation of symptoms suggestive of acute pulmonary embolism or aortic dissection but can incidentally detect areas of myocardial hypoenhancement that could trigger consideration of an acute MI.

Preoperatively, 611 segments (21%) had abnormal regional function, whereas 421 segments (14%) showed evidence of hypoenhancement.
