The Indian Bay is the final location, where the expedition ship stays in Polynya in part of Lazarev Sea and all the operations of loading unloading is carried out at the iceshelf here.

Ice accumulated on it to form a permanent icesheet which expanded to cover the entire continent and reached the ocean, forming iceshelves.
