In-joky

As it is, with in-joky program bios and little in the way of song introductions, “Out of Hiding” brings its music into the light but leaves its creators in the shadows.

Selfmade Music Theatre’s plan to demystify and develop opera is laudable, but this odd, in-joky piece isn’t the way to do it.

Robert Altman’s Prêt-à-Porter took the world of Catwalk and made it into a great film about fame, media, dreams and image. Catwalk is just a celluloid fanzine, a 95-minute authorised industry fame-fest that is tame and predictable. Mostly it’s the kind of chaotic, in-joky, dialogue-scrambled, giggly doco-mess that was sent up in This Is Spinal Tap.
