He rejects the Hemimerina but admits the Arixenina, and brings forward a new suborder, the Archidermaptera, for the fossil species Protodiplatys fortis, described by Martynov from the Jurassic deposits of southern Kazakstan, which has 4-5-segmented tarsi, apparently rudiments of venation in the elytra, and segmented cerci, like the larvae of Diplatys and the Karschiellinae.

In a dramatic, secret operation in later 1994, the On-Site Inspection Agency took part in the transfer of weapons-grade materials from Kazakstan to the United States. The Kazakstan government agreed to transfer its highly enriched uranium to the U.S. for safekeeping, in exchange for an undisclosed amount of foreign aid from the United States.

The Daur minority is another Mongolian-speaking group, most of whom live near the town of Tacheng (Qochek), near the Kazakstan border.
