Low-masking

Privilege works both ways – a high-masking autistic has the privilege of choosing whether or not to share their identity, while a low-masking autistic has the privilege of not having their identity doubted or questioned.

It worries me that for some of us our initial spark of awareness might be snuffed out by dismissive therapists who think they know what autism looks like when their clinical knowledge is limited to low-masking autistics.

Autistic men's and low-masking perspectives were also less represented.
