Relations between Terra and Luna had been strained since the Lunans had eaten Neil Armstrong in 1960.

Despite the war games, the Jovans considered themselves invincible, and the Lunans were their only worthy opponent in the solar system. Having their own ships blown up in orbit by unknown forces, the Lunans were no longer transgressors.
