Microbivory

The focus of this review is on meiofaunal microbivory, particularly the use of bacteria and microalgae by nematodes and harpacticoids.

Fungal biomass was not significantly affected by microbivory, but the addition of energy had a positive effect, irrespective of trophic length.

Moreover, widespread microbivory in plants for nutrient acquisition from microbes could have far reaching consequences.
