Misequalize

At one time, U.S. Decca listed a large number of these performances, pressed on less than the best material, often misequalized, sometimes off pitch.

The most common symptom of incorrect equalization (assuming good associated equipment) is a bright, hard, elevated roughness of response above approximately 2 kHz. I think all of us have heard systems misequalized that way.

If the recording is misequalized, overmiked , or poorly reverbed, the C/II will expose these faults.
