Misgrind

In many shops, a floor grinder is provided so that the men are perfectly free to misgrind their tools.

Overheating of the enamel slip during grinding, or misgrinding from other causes, brings out difficulties with respect to set of the enamel, dipping, draining, and spraying, as well as surface texture.

As a saw doctor, I have spent many frustrating hours trying to level saws that were misground (thick and thin spots) .

Misgrinds are costly. I admit I've popped beans into the grinder and activated it only to realize it was set on coarse when I needed a drip.

Margins should be left everywhere after rough grinding so as to the “misgrind” can be avoided; thereby the fine grinding is needed.
