Mixedwoods play a somewhat larger role in this ecoregion when compared to ecoregion 3S.

The 2001 forest simulated with natural disturbance only included fewer stand types, and was composed of 47% spruce-balsam fir-hardwood mixedwoods and 53% hardwood-softwood mixedwoods and hardwood stands (figure 11.6).
