Twister works on multiple levels and while I can make a sound case it’s a romance (based on the genre definition—the story focuses on the MMC and FMC and their relationship and ends with an HFN) the underlying framework is that of a road trip.

The MMC of the current story is with his best friend at the local bar talking about his problems with the current FMC.

We love a morally grey MMC [male main character] who’s a complete fucking asshole with a giant dick and turns into a teddy bear […] by the time they’re finally get together, you’re like, oh thank fuck.

The MMC—that stands for male main character—is in an argument with the FMC.
