Monocoat

Identification of some organic pigments used in red and brown nonmetallic and metallic monocoats – quinacridones.

Until the early 1980s almost all top coats were monocoats, a single coating composition applied in several coats. Monocoats have been largely supplanted by base coat–clear coat systems.
