Such an endeavor would require the following: (i) the establishment of a regional and multipopulational genomic DNA bank of the most important woody species in MOF; (ii) the determination of which DNA fragments (or combination of fragments) are useful as barcodes for this group of plants; and (iii) the development of a high-quality reference database of DNA barcode sequences that is easily accessible to non-academic users.
