Once a mill town producing everything from doors to bowling pins, the central NEK town of Barton is now better known for its easy access to waterborne recreation.

At more than three hundred feet deep, Willoughby is one of the deepest and most beautiful lakes in the NEK.

Here in the NEK, I am located on the southern edge of the boreal forest that begins in Canada. Being here in northern Vermont, immersed in this boreal forest, I have been reflecting on my academic journey.
