To support this contention, Yoneda et al . 10 recently found a high frequency of insulin-positive duct cells, and an increased density of small neogenetic islets in subjects with impaired glucose tolerance and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients, but not any more in long-standing type 2 diabetic patients.
