d) when you light into people for off-topic posts, besides being off-topic yourself to begin with, a lot of people think of your actions as petty and netcoppy and mean-spirited, and it doesn't build support for your viewpoint.

Oh, they flooded groups, all right. Just like the other guys did, right up until the party line dictated that they all become Concerned Citizens and get all netcoppy and beard-strokingly stuffed shirtish and unfun.
