Neurofiber

According to Yohro (1985, 1988), the vibrissa around the mouth is a sensory organ, receiving approximately 100 neurofibers and containing several sensory nerve ends. The neurofiber leading to the vibrissa is a dendrite which elongates from the nerve cell in the trigeminal ganglion toward the periphery.

Red-free photography clearly shows a loss of the neurofiber layer during this follow-up period.

Each neuron, actually, has one neurofiber but many dendrites stretch from within out.
