Nonacrocentric

The derivative that is lacking is formed by the complete acrocentric short arm and the proximal long arm segment and perhaps a terminal segment from the nonacrocentric chromosome.

In other words, acrocentric-derived sSMC tend to be transmitted more easily from one generation to the next than nonacrocentric ones; the first can apparently survive male and female meiosis more easily, whereas nonacrocentric ones seem to face more problems there.

Gabriel-Robez et al. have shown a ratio of 1:4 for translocations with an acrocentric present, compared with nonacrocentric translocations in fertile males.
