Nursely

"She's a dreadful good hand in sickness," was said to us of a woman we were about to become acquainted with. […] If to know the worst way and to practise it was a nursely qualification, then she should have ranked high.

Irene was not very good at being comforting. She felt she was sorely lacking in this "nursely" quality and was peeved at herself.
