In our work, osmotic stress was shown to reduce stress tolerance in CdM while addition of yeast extract in salted CdM increased salt tolerance showing that externally provided compatible solutes, in conjunction with osmoadaptation, play a crucial role in stress tolerance, as described in other bacteria [38 ,40 ].
