Skin erythema and burning as well as lens and corneal (including photokeratitis and photoconjunctivitis) effects have resulted from exposure to specific wavelengths.

On the other hand, ultraviolet rays produce photoconjunctivitis, a temporary superficial inflammation of the lining of the eyelid that is sometimes called arc eye.

The erythemally weighted UV corresponding to the spectral irradiances in Figure 2-4 for a SZA of 57° are in Figure 2-11 (Parisi and Kimlin, 1999a) along with the biologically damaging UV for photoconjunctivitis.
