The finest specimens of optical glass have been tried, but when examined spectroscopically they not only showed an enormous absorption in all regions except the yellow, but also evinced phototherapeutically an unmistakable inefficiency, even with the employment of the largest arcs of as high a capacity as 100 ampères.

It is possible to treat with these the mucosa of the urethra, of the mouth, throat, nose, and most probably of the urinary bladder and the larynx phototherapeutically.

At higher irradiancies however these positions are reversed; that is, the relative amount of phototherapeutically eliminated bilirubin is greater.
