Piazza

Saint Peter's square, or the Piazza San Pietro, is located in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

We are the only ones sitting outside a usually bustling piazza bar on the outskirts of Rome sipping mid-morning coffees — and, in my case, nibbling on a ciambella cake.

Tom took a vaporetto to Piazza San Marco.

Incidentally, the yard in front of the Granary, now a lovely piazza, was once a canal basin that had been filled in decades before.

Pretty soon I struck into a sort of path[…]. It twisted and turned,[…]and opened out into a big clear space like a lawn. And, back of the lawn, was a big, old-fashioned house, with piazzas stretching in front of it, and all blazing with lights.
