Pixelize

Vector graphics are resolution-independent and can be scaled to any size without losing detail, whereas a bitmap image is resolution-dependent and can pixelize when printed beyond its resolution parameters.

Aftenposten’s editor-in-chief, Espen Egil Hansen, said the newspaper had received a message from Facebook asking it to “either remove or pixelize” the photograph.
